Best known as the lead singer and songwriter of the seminal Australian band The Triffids, David McComb died at the age of 36 from heart problems exacerbated by substance abuse. He left behind a manuscript of poems, with the words “If found, please publish” typed across the front. Ten years after his death, Fremantle Press did just that, with a collection edited by Chris Coughran and Niall Lucy. We’ll hear from them today and publisher Georgia Richter as well as commentary from Jonathan Alley, archival recordings of David McComb, and readings by Jasper Bagg.
The interview excerpts with the late Niall Lucy came from the film 'Love in Bright Landscapes; the story of David McComb of the Triffids'. David McComb’s poems are published by Fremantle Press.
